Outward Bound Professional:
Case Studies: Pfizer
Client Background:
Our client, Pfizer Inc., is one of the world's leading health care companies providing pharmaceuticals, medical devices, consumer health products, and animal health solutions around the world.
Business Situation:
A division of Pfizer's sales force determined that, while each sales person sells individually and has individual goals, the group could achieve more as a group if they could develop a high functioning team that yielded results which benefit everyone.
Program Objectives:
While getting to know each other in a different environment, the main goals of the program were to:
- Improve Team Effectiveness.
- Build Trust.
- Try New Experiences.
Program Outcomes:
Based upon the satisfaction survey results, Outward Bound Professional exceeded Pfizer's expectations in every category and every participant stated that they would hire Outward Bound again. Specific outcomes include:
Improved Teamwork:
The group learned and experienced that they can achieve more collectively than as individuals while keeping their entrepreneurial spirit and drive alive. Specific skills include sharing best practices and resources, balancing planning and doing, cooperating with others to achieve a common goal, asking for the advice of others, listening and incorporating the ideas of others.
Increased Trust And New Experiences:
The ability to interact with members in a different environment while utilizing positive reinforcement and discussion after each task allowed the group to appreciate each other and develop an esprit de corps. This allowed the group to learn how to more effectively get along with others, have fun, and utilize the diversity of the group to meet both individual and group goals.
