Client Background:
Chase and J.P. Morgan have merged to create J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. With more than 90,000 employees in over 60 countries, they draw on a comprehensive range of capabilities to provide integrated financial solutions for institutions and individuals worldwide.

Business Situation:
The Credit and Rate Markets division of J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., is critical to the company’s successful expansion. The bank has recognized the need to bring its new employees up to speed quickly to stay competitive in the dynamically changing financial services industry.

Program Objectives:
The Credit and Rate Markets managers wanted to rapidly develop their most important asset: their employees. The specific objectives were to:

  • Introduce the required job competencies
  • Develop leadership skills
  • Integrate with more senior analysts

Program Outcomes:
The participants in Outward Bound® Professional’s training agreed that the experience was valuable and specifically targeted to their goals. Specific outcomes included:

    Job Competencies:
    Participants practiced specific job performance measures such as planning and strategizing, thinking creatively, analyzing situations, working with others and delivering ideas to clients. Discussions about how these skills play out in the workplace resulted in increased role clarification and job expectations.

    Leadership Development:
    The activities and debriefs gave participants a chance to practice and examine their individual leadership styles and receive feedback from their co-workers. The “leadership practice field” outside of the office gave individuals the opportunity to plan how they will lead teams of Analysts, Associates and support staff to accomplish common goals at work.

    Integration with Senior Co-workers:
    New employees were able to build relationships with senior analysts. By gaining access to this human capital and institutional knowledge, the newer employees are now better able to serve their clients.
